What does a workshop look like?

Analog Faith in Digital Babylon is designed to help church leaders, parents, and local congregations navigate the Digital Age by sharing information and resources that will cultivate knowledgeable disciples that are able to use technology in ways that glorify God. In the Digital Age, the church must not run from technology. Rather, Christians must learn to steward the tools of our day to effectively "go into all the world" and to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Join us as we seek to become better digital disciples while wisely guarding against the dangers that exist online.

A potential schedule of topics is listed below. However, there is flexibility with this workshop. Other topics that could be covered include: how Christians can use social media and technology to glorify God, or a session designed for teens or college students focusing on the potential dangers and blessings of technology.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions for topics that are relevant to your congregation.

The [Perceived] Generation Gap

This session examines the events and technology that formed and shaped each generation. Understanding how each generation relates to technology can help us better understand how to use technology to connect the church and grow God's Kingdom.

Analog Consequences to Digital Choices

Technology is designed to make life easier and more convenient. But there is always a cost to convenience. This session examines some of the negative ways technology forms us. We'll talk specifically about the impact of social media, AI technology, digital addictions, and the impact of technology on mental health.

Sexuality & Technology

From the introduction of "the pill" in 1960 to dating apps in the 2000s, our view of sexuality has been directly shaped by technology. This session covers a brief overview of the events and philosophies that have brought us to today. We'll examine how unlimited early access to pornography has remapped the brain of an entire generation and how defining one’s sexuality has become the most important (and controversial) milestone in life.

Cultivating Healthy Consequences about Technology

Talking to your child about social media doesn't have to be scary. But it does need to be early and often. This session covers some approaches to help start the social media conversation.

The Role of the Church in the Digital Age

In this session, we explore some of the unique ways the church can leverage technology to glorify God and grow His Kingdom. From AI to church livestreams, congregations are only limited by their own creativity when it comes to using the tools of today’s world.

  • “Jason is an engaging and relatable speaker that thoughtfully addresses important needs in our digital age. While he brings clarity to the challenges we face, he also reminds us that God has already equipped the Lord’s people to respond. The message Jason brings is realistic, yet optimistic! Every generation in the church will benefit from his work.”

  • “Our families--especially our youth--live in a digital world that the church and its leaders are often woefully ignorant of. The excellent, ground-breaking work Jason has put into exposing Digital Babylon goes a long way to showing us how to live faithful, gospel-centered lives in this emerging world.”

    Todd Brenneman, PhD.

    Professor of Christian History

  • “When Jason conducted the Digital Babylon Workshop at Beltline, we experienced a renewal of communication between parents & teens. It brought our families closer & helped us really deal with issues that are too often swept under the rug. Every church should be addressing these timely & impactful topics!”
